I have an ‘03 Saturn Ion with 71,000 miles on it. The transmission has started slipping. I love the car, but not enough to put a new transmission in it. What can I do for it to buy time? Can you suggest any additives or anything else to do for it?

No additives are going to wprk for the slipping transmission. Its just wasting money All you can really do is rebuild the transmission in the car so its better and stronger

A vacuum leak at the MAP sensor will cause the transmission to slip on take off and possibly while driving. If your sensor does not have a vacuum line then just pull the sensor and put high temperature grease on the rubber seal and reinsert. That may be the problem solved.

Additives are just a waste of money. All you can do is check the fluid level & make sure it is full. Thats all you can do. Changing the fluid or adding Lucas oil or any other crap will be just wasting your money. Once it starts slipping & it isnt from low on fluid, nothing you can do but fix it

sort of low on mileage, may look into taking it to the GM dealership & see what they would charge to rebuild it
